verdict waldheim trials

In the so-called Waldheim trials, between April and July 1950, sentences were passed on 91 defendants in connection to homicidal crimes committed in the service of the Nazi regime. Of these defendants 24 were sentenced to death, 31 to life and 36 to prison terms. There were no acquittals. 17 defendants were executed, 13 died in prison, one defendant was turned over to the Soviets. Of the remaining 60 defendants, five were released in 1952, seven in 1954, 16 in 1955, and 27 in 1956. The last five defendants were released during the years 1957 to 1969.
